Learning Data Visualisation with India in Pixels
A hands-on course in data visualisation. I moved from visualising my own habits to creative coding, public datasets, and sports-data exploration - learning how data, narrative, and design shape one another.
What I did
Week 1: Data Portrait: Adapting to Information Infusion
I turned 27 weeks of personal activity into a data portrait.
Medium project: Adapting to Information Infusion
Week 2: Creating an Emoji on p5.js
I designed and coded a custom blue-diamond emoji using simple geometry, colour, and layering.
Medium project: Creating an Emoji on p5.js
Week 3: The Top 10 Movie Genres
I explored a Bollywood-movies dataset through revenue, ratings, votes, profitability, and genre.
Week 4: Virat Kohli with p5.js
I used Howstat data to explore Virat Kohli’s statistics through code.
Follow-up: 15 Years of Virat Kohli’s ODI Performance
A second visualisation of his ODI performance over time.
Outcome
Created a set of visualization across data collection, visual storytelling, creative coding, and sports-data exploration. The work gave me an early practical foundation in finding and cleaning data, choosing what matters, and making information easier to understand.
